Its amazing how quickly things can change. I had started a blog titled ‘What the Actual F**k is Going on?’ but time restraints meant I couldn’t get it completed. Fast forward a few days and it seems like a 3-0 away win at Forest has fixed everything……or does it?
Now, I only got to see the second half of the match yesterday. However, it did look a massive improvement on the shitshows that were the first two games! How can a team playing with 5 at the back and 2 defensive midfielders concede 8 goals? Easily by the looks of things!

It was a brave move yesterday to drop last year’s Hammer of the Year Wan Bissaka but I felt it was justified after the Chelsea game. He was caught out many times and at least one of the goals coming directly from him switching off.
Potter also abandoned his 5 at the back in favour of a 4. Again, I felt this was a correct move. In the previous games, it seemed to me that the 5 thought each other would handle the defending. As a result, no one did! That changed yesterday we managed to get 9 tackles in, an increase of 50% more than in the Chelsea game! And 33% more than the Sunderland game.
Our new £42m signing from Southampton Mateus Fernandes came in and looked good. Not sure of the cost but time will tell if its money well spent.
We need speed. Hopefully, our other new signing Soungoutou Magassa has that speed. He will hopefully replace Ward Prowse or Soucek. Both lacking in the speed department. I still can’t believe Isidor wasn’t tracked and had SOOO much room for Sunderland’s 3rd goal!
One person we can’t say lacks pace is Summerville! By Christ he can run! The pace he was going at when brought down for the penalty was insane. I expect more penalties to come with him running at defenders inside the box.

And by the looks of things our Brazilian magnifico will be the man to put them away. I think his celebration said it all. Although with today’s footballers who knows what may happen in January! His penalty run up always gives me the heebie jeebies though! But I’ll settle for that when he puts it in the net.
We could and should have had a fourth goal. Bowen danced through their defence only for Wilson to nick the ball from him on the shot! Just as I was starting to come round to Wilson he goes and does that!
So, have we turned a corner? I have no idea. We don’t even get to find out until 12 days’ time because of this stupid bloody international break! I hate it! And not just because Ireland are awful at the minute but because it always comes too early in the season. We wait for months. We get a tease for 3 games. Then we have to wait for nearly 2 weeks for the next game.
The only good thing could be that Potter, and his team get to work with any new signings bought today. (I won’t hold my breath and will go to bed). Then hopefully they will be fully prepared for the Spurts game. And Judus will get a nice warm reception on his return!
If we win that game, maybe just maybe that corner will have been turned!
