West Ham v Man Utd Preview

West Ham welcome one-time greats Manchester United to the London Stadium this weekend. A game that has been chosen by SKY as their live 2:00pm televised match on Sunday.

The Hammers have won 2 out of their last 4 Premier League home matches against the Red Devils. The same amount as in their previous 19 home matches against them.

TEAM NEWS

Still Antonio and Reid are the only long-term injury concerns.

Masuaku serves a one match ban following his sending off on Monday evening against Aston Villa.

Lanzini appears to have taken a knock and will be subject to a late fitness test. Fingers crossed he comes through it.

I remember a time when I would have got repetitive strain injury or writers cramp detailing our injury list. Have we actually got things sorted? Or is it just we no longer have Andy Carroll? Was it him who was injuring our players for a bit a company when he would inevitably return to the physio table?

PREDICTED LINE UP

Manuel Pellegrini, having had the ability to name an unchanged unbeaten side recently, is having his hand forced with the suspension of Masuaku.

More than likely I think we will see the return of Cresswell although I would like to have seen Johnson get a run out. I can’t see Zabaleta taking the position despite coming on to fill the void left by Masuaku’s sending off.

It’s funny how in recent years, had we been coming up against Man U, I would have wanted the experienced player to come into the side in this scenario.

However, as Man United have lost their ‘status’ somewhat recently, I would be confident in the youth of Johnson doing the job. Let’s be honest, he couldn’t do much worse than Cresswell of late.

I’m not sure what has happened to Cresswell but he does look half the player he once was. At one stage, he was my young son’s favourite player, and I couldn’t really have argued with it at the time.

Therefore, I would imagine Sundays starting 11 to look something like:

18-ManULineup

I would love nothing more than for West Ham to come away with a victory on Sunday. I am fed up with ‘plastic’ Man U fans trying to slag me off when they know nothing about football and probably haven’t even watched the game.

The number of times I have managed to shut one of their fans up just by asking the simple question ‘Who scored for Man U?’ is ridiculous.

I think I’m going to avoid the pub (and Man U fans) by opting to watch the game at home, in peace.

Hopefully, Pellegrini can become the first manager to beat four different Man United managers in the league. If not, there’s a good chance a Man U fan could have a sore nose on Monday.
