Reece Oxford Departs

Reece Oxford has departed West Ham for Ausburg for an undisclosed fee.

Oxford was once regarded as being the next best thing coming out of the notorious West Ham Academy. An Academy which has produced such stars as Bobby Moore, Martin Peters, Geoff Hurst, Trevor Brooking, Tony Cottee, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, Michael Carrick, Declan Rice to name quite a few.

Reece Oxford made his Premier League debut v Arsenal in the first game of the 2015/16 season. A game where he excelled and kept world class player Mesut Ozil out of the game.

Unfortunately, he would only go on to feature in 7 more Premiership games that season and only play one further game over the following 2 seasons for the Hammers with attitude and ego being touted as the main reason.

He has had loan spells at Reading, Borussia Monchengladbach and his new club Ausburg.

There’s no doubt it is disapointing how the former England underage player and captain’s career with West Ham has petered out. However, he will still go down in the West Ham history books as being the youngest ever player at aged 16 years and 198 days.
